Plymouth Whitemarsh High School is proud to celebrate the students who achieved Commended and Semifinalist status in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Students receive these designations based on their performance on the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Over 1.3 million juniors in about 20,000 high schools entered the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT in October of 2024.

To attain Commended status, students had to be among the top 34,000 highest performers in the nation on the PSAT/NMSQT. Plymouth Whitemarsh’s Commended students are Maya Bava, Caleb Cleveland, Lajvar Haroon, Maite Jayo, Param Patel, Narayani Sakthinathan, and Ryan Schwarz.

To attain Semifinalist status, students had to be among the top 16,000 highest performers nationally. Three seniors attained Semifinalist status: Madison Li, Zach Halbert, and Aidan Robinette.

These three students are eligible to become Finalists in the competition by submitting a detailed scholarship application, in which they provide information about their academic records, school and community activities, leadership abilities, employment, and other awards and honors they have received. Students must also be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay, and earn an SAT or ACT score to confirm their earlier performance on the qualifying test. Finalists will be announced in the spring.
